i've gone backwards in time and purchased a mackie universal control - i'll be infront of it in a month...anyone use this - if so, how did it work out for you

i'll be running pttdm 6.4.1, ptle 8.1, and a few more...hopefully...it seemed like the best bang for the buck on the ebay market...all in around, with shipping, 450usd

i see there are extenders for her as well...

just wondering what you all thought of the unit

Cheers

I use one of these with the 8-channel expander with Cubase. I've mixed complete CD's using it and, once you get used to the workflow, it becomes fairly intuitive to use.

With Digital Performer

I used one of these with Digital Performer for a while,
and it worked well, although there was an occasional
hiccup with the protocol and things would jump between
points, but that was not the units fault.
In the end I found it faster just to use the mouse,
although that is not for everybody.

Mackie Controler

Hi, I was in the search last year on controlers. Although the mackie is ok, I did opt for the Euphonix MC control and mix units. They are just well implemented, more recent and well supported driver wise.
My 2 cents,
Marc

Mackie Controler

I have used the mackie controlers flawlessly with a variety of DAW's Sonar, Logic, Pro Tools it is a great product for the money and integrates well all DAW's i have used. I had the Mackie control universal and went to the newest version, it uses usb midi control so you dont need a midi interface to use it. Great product, great price and very expandable. In my world it has been the standard for many years. Hope that helps.

This is an interesting post

This is an interesting post at an interesting time.

I am currently trying to decide between a Mackie Universal Control, or going for the Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2.

One the one I get motorized faders and control for my 'in the box' mix, and on the other I get a 16in/16out firewire interface integrated into the digital mixer so that I can do a manual mix on the mixer. (albeit without motorized faders).

I am really stuck and don't know which way is best.

i'm in protools land - played

i'm in protools land - played with a Command 8 - 5 minutes later my 24 faders, by way of MCU and 2 extenders, hit ebay - the command 8 is incredible (for anyone on PT!! moved up to a pthd2 8.1.1 system - it's a deam )

Cheers
