We're reaching out to all like minded Producers, Sound Engineers and Musicians and clients of Abbey Road Studios in London to join our campaign to ensure the future of the studio complex. EMI are preparing to sell Abbey Road to meet their debt to Terra Firma.

Please do a Google News search to read the latest.

The focus of our campaign is at: http://saveabbeyroadstudios.org/

I was supported by Alan and Eric when I was recording in Studio 2 in the early 80's with my project 'The Lost Jockey' and they were working in Studio 3. They lent me their Fairlight and offered support and ideas. I've only just learnt of Eric's death in researching for supporters of our campaign, it's sad, he was a great guy, totally genuine.

Alan, if you're reading this. please round up a posse and let's assure the future of the studios once and for all. I'm suggesting:

  1. Establish an Abbey Road Studios Trust to own and manage the complex.
  2. Have on deposit enough funds to allow the studios to run on Interest and other income from the deposits without threat of closure ever again.
  3. Ensure the current standards remain now and forever.
  4. Develop new income streams, e.g. Educational use.
  5. Create and maintain a public archive.

There's also a Facebook Group at: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=306022858586#!/topic.php?uid=306022858586&topic=13055

Thanks everyone.

John

Save Abbey Road

Great post. Did you catch Alan on CNN today? Alan is obviously interested in the on-going well-being of Abbey Road and I'll make sure he sees this post and responds or takes action as soon as he can.

Hi As of today (Sunday) UK

Hi
As of today (Sunday) UK time, EMI have decided not to sell, is it; delete where applicable.
1. The have realised if the get rid of the only earner they shoot themselves in the foot
2. They were testing the water
3. There is a background investment deal that secured the studio for the moment.

We had Paul Mc Cartney offer to assist in the transfer to a conglometate and Andrew Lloyd-Webber has offered to buy the studio.
Even the national trust were interested, they would have converted part into a museum

So its safe for the time being.

By the way, did anyone download AP on interview, as I missed it in the UK.

Now all we need is olympic to be saved and we are definitely cooking.
