Would I run Midi out of Roland TD-20 Module to Midi in on computer midi interface to trigger software based drums/cymbals to replace Roland's factory sounds?
Basically, yes. Depending on what software you're using you should be able to create rather more realistic and lifelike drums than you can just using the standard sounds. Different velocities may trigger different samples or just be graded a little more sympathetically in terms of volume and tone and pitch.
