Perhaps I should say that I already have two version of this piece bought from iTunes but was hoping the recording Alan did in his video might be available to buy?
It's a wonderful piece, isn't it. The final mix of this session will shortly be posted here on the site. We may subsequently release it on iTunes but we don't have plans in place right this moment.
I hope the High School guys and girls had even an inkling about how lucky they were to have this man record them! I would have given my right arm in High School to have Alan record us!
This was a very informative little primer for "going live". Thanks Alan. And you can't go wrong with Morten Lauridsen.
((Long-time fan! Alan come back to the B.B. King in NYC!))
I pre-ordered the dvd set and had hopes of additional included material(s)...surprise! as is usually the case with a boxed set of dvd.
please let me know exactly what the additional content is and cost(s).
i am feeling a little tricked right now by this new information... i purchased the complete boxed set of videos not as yet finished and BAM ! it is not the complete set. and i need to fork over more $ for the "more complete GOLD set" or the "even more complete Platinum set".sorry but it doesnt quite seem to be a good business practice now does it?Very sorry for the tardy reply... just noticed this post unanswered. To clarify (well, hopefully), the DVD will indeed contain every and all videos made for the program, including some bonus materials. The Gold/Platinum packages are really more on-going 'services' for people who want to remix tracks, communicate with Alan on the forums, have a print out of the script etc. The DVD is completely self-sufficient and complete; especially with the additional materials that you can find on the site already in terms of Studio Stories interviews, background articles, and some source files. We feel these additional packages will help keep the material alive and fresh. We could have simply offered an a la carte menu but it seemed appropriate (and simpler) to build them into packages. At the end of the day the Art & Science Of Sound Recording is a 'video series' and so please rest assured that the DVD boxed set does absolutely contain the full video experience.

Agreed. I have found other versions but I really like this one. I would love for this to be made available for purchase. Who turns down money anyway? Of course at this point maybe that's like an eskimo getting an Ice Machine.
Honestly you'll get much better results from an outboard gate. Cubase does have internal gates, as does ProTools, but you'll get a much more organic and true sound if you use outboard gear like Drawmer. Of course, this costs money so if you are just looking for easy recording with what you have I would recommend ProTools over Cubase but it honestly comes down to user preference.

Any plan to include it in the "purchases" section for people who have bought the complete set? I think that would make sense ;)
Or include it somewhere on the DVDs?
