From watching Alan's DVD Series it appears he is not only obviously knowledgeable, but extremely approachable, patient and witty. I would have to say cost might be the only factor, but all obstacles can be overcome with the right motivation.
Cheers Alan, Julian & all involved for producing such a wonderfully informative series!
Any hands-on input is always great, especially with someone as experienced as Alan Parsons. As other posters I guess cost and place would be a major question as quality experience comes at a price I guess, but in principle it would be great!
do not care about cost(ok maybe a bit) distance no problem.
I simply would so enjoy the opportunity to spend any time learning from Alan Parsons. I would do whatever it takes to make it happen. So let me know if you do this it would be awesome.
I am a professional sound engineer (meaning, I went to music/recording school) But have to work in I.T. in order to eat on a daily basis and avoid begging. I live in the province of Quebec, Canada where the industry is run by a handful of people. Needless to say, there is no work or money for 'outsiders' like me. Recording is unfortunately a hobby but my freelance I.T. job allows me to earn 30 (thirty) times my engineer 'salary', hence I can buy my own outboard gear (I do not buy plugins, I don't like them) and eat not only a daily basis but 3 times a day.
Since i learned the right way (to me anyway), spent some years in the studio and am passionate about music, I already know what I need to dig in a little further, a day with Alan Parsons would give more 'headroom'. I don't care how he did this or that, I want to talk about what I want to do but can't and perhaps he could fill me in.
I will be in France next summer, a session would fit right in my agenda where do I sign ?
I am retired USAF, ex Cessna Flightline Aircraft Mechanic. Trying to get work any way I can. Maybe a training day under my belt might help get my foot in the door at one of the local studios.
Yes. Cost and travel would be a consideration of course.
What would also be of great value is the ability to buy a hour of Alan's time for a telephone consult. Provide him a list of my gear, experience level, one or two examples of my work, and listen to his comments and be able to ask him specific questions.
Since travel would not be required, more individuals could take advantage of such a service and be willing to pay a higher hourly rate.
Video conference would keep prices down.
To see him actively in studio setting could be spread over a few days with webcam operating and could cover a whole host of events from start to end of his role.
He might consider separate sessions for mixing with the possibility of introducing some mastering work.
That would excite a few people and cover a larger audience.
Question and answer sessions can be also scheduled.
