hi alan,
after viewing all your videos a though hit me
your students, who have viewed the videos, will have built up a certain understanding of the recording and mixing process that could allow them a chance to experiment with the tracks they've witnessed you record
why don't you put up the stems to 'all our yesterdays' to allow students to use their developing skillsets to remix the tune
this would allow the good folks here to mix itb or outside...or any blend of the two - as well, it could allow students the chance to add or subtract to the stems by way of recording additional tracks or getting rid of others, following the methods used in your videos ....and beyond
i would find it interesting to have a spot where folks could upload their results, describe how they created 'a this or that' leaving the community, yourself included of course, here to comment upon each others' work
after 24 videos...i must say, i'm certain that folks have built up a familiarity with your tune...ha ha...from the inside out...in a good way of course
maybe have a submission form that would help everyone know what remixers used to created their uploads...outboard gear, monitors, software, etc.
more or less just thinking outload, but it could be an exciting way for folks here to take your course one step further...into the realm of the 'art of the possible'
thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea and indeed very common practice these days since the one recording can be rebuilt for a variety of musical genres fairly easily on the DAW.
and let us not forget the 'fun' factor
ha ha...i have found myself, after watching all the videos, at times humming the tune
it's made its way deep into my brain, i feel i need to take a stab at remixing it just so that i can 'do what i need to do'
and this is odd as i have never ever wanted to or have actually remixed a tune...ever
so i'm faced with the following
question - can you remix alan parsons with all the tools alan has given you
answer - watch me....watch me now
alan...are you out there - please 'make it so
(i mean what's a guy to do after he has watched all the vids....i'm suggesting the next logical step is to move into a hands on experience...and what a better start...then the tune we've all witnessed grow through the recording process, with alan, our teacher, at the helm )

This is in the plans, for sure. Since the files are large we havn't made a final decision on exactly how they will be made available and to who but we will be posting on this shortly. Thanks for your support and interest.
excellent!
thank you.

Any news about this ?
That would be great for remixing, but also to hear how the tracks sound on their own. I seem to struggle with bass recordings, and want to make sure that what I record is a good start (so I need to EQ it) or maybe I must re-record it differently (for example bypassing the amp simulation).

+1 to the idea of providing files for remix. It would be a great way to put into practice the stuff learned in the series (well the mixing stuff anyway as Alan has alreay done the tracking bit for us) and see how well our equipment etc holds up to the original.

Thanks for the post. We will be doing a lot of interactive projects this year and providing the stems for All Our Yesterdays will sure be in the mix (sorry!) somewhere.
We're looking at some physical live events, web events, and contests and we should have some information ready to announce within the next few weeks.
I'm interested in this too.
Alternatively, I guess you could run it as a re-mix contest at somewhere like:
www.kompoz.com or
www.indabamusic.com
