The DVD I think was trying to put the point across that you can mic one of those suckers almost anywhere. Top and bottom will have two different tones so I'm guessing, Ive never had the opportunity to record one personally. I cant recall 100% now, but I believe that is what they did (top and bottom with two cond. mics).
Personally, Id probably mic Top, and bottom, and one Cond. mic placed further away in the room, maybe a foot or two away (about mid level with the unit).
I think the best advice is experiment! =D
